Tips for Finding Quality Websites

Finding reliable, unbiased information on the free Web can be tough and VERY time consuming! Use the CRAAPP Test (at the bottom of this box) for evaluating pages you find when you search Google or any other web search engine.

But save yourself some time. There are faster ways to get to quality information.

  • Limit yourself to US Government or College and University websites using Google Advanced Search.  There's a short video tutorial on this page that will show you how.
  • Find quality websites easily using ipl2.  This is a collection of links to reliable websites evaluated and chosen by librarians.  Search for your topic using the search box or browse their resources by subject area.

Consumer Reports Online

More and more of this website is becoming limited to subscribers only, but if you need unbiased information on a consumer product it's still worth having a look here.
