This guide will help you access, evaluate and cite resources for your informative speech.

Starting Tip

  • Start with CREDO Reference to gain a better understanding of your topic, its concepts, or people associated.
  • Next, go to EBSCOhost which has its own menu of databases that you can search simultaneously.
  • Try Opposing Viewpoints in Context.  This will help supply information from a variety of source types including statistics, images, and video.

EBSCO Host: A brief overview

A quick refresher on EBSCO Host and how to search within the database.

Opposing Viewpoints in Context

Try using this database for a wide variety of information, including articles, on social issues and current events.

Credo Reference

Credo Reference is a great resource for reading about unfamiliar topics, finding concepts related to your topic, or exploring ideas for essays, speeches, and other projects. Remember to check out Credo's mind maps, too. Watch this video for some tips.

Remember that the information in Credo is from specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias rather than scholarly journals, popular magazines and newspapers that you will find in the other databases.
