Historic Preservation Research Guide: Locating Books

This is a LibGuide pertaining to Historical Preservation.

Searching the Bucks County Community College Library

To locate books, you must use the library’s online catalog -

  1.  Go to the library home page.

  2.  Under “Quick Catalog Search,” please type your topic next to “Find.” An example of a search topic is "building conservation."

  3.  Click on the drop-down box and change “words or phrase” to “subject” if you want books and other materials about a particular topic. If you choose "subject," you will get results specifically identified by your search. So, you will get a smaller list of results than you would if you selected "words or phrases." An example of a subject search is  "Historic buildings -- United States -- Conservation and restoration"
  4.  Click on “Search.”

  5.  If you don’t get any results or you get the wrong kind of results, try searching using other terms for your topic.

  6. Read the list of results to see which ones are currently available to be checked out and where they are located.  Once you’ve identified a book that interests you, write down or print the title, call number, and location.

  7. Need help?  Speak with the librarian on campus. Or, if you’re off campus, virtually chat with a librarian. Virtual chat is available by going to www.bucks.edu/library and  clicking on “"Ask a Librarian." The direct link to this service is: http://www.bucks.edu/academics/learn/library/ask/
