Final Project: Research Proposal & Annotated Bibliography

RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL:

The final paper will be a research proposal on an aspect of intercultural communication you would like to pursue. Select a theory you found interesting or would like to study to build your knowledge in a particular field of communication studies.

Your research proposal should be at least seven (7) but no more than twelve (12) pages, double-spaced, 12-point, Times-New Roman font.

The research proposal should cover the following areas:

  1. The area of intercultural communication studies you will pursue. Describe which field of communication studies field you are exploring and why it is important to study this aspect of it currently. What is the value of your research? How does it contribute to the field?
  2. Discuss how this fits into a “Future Challenge” in intercultural communication. Discuss how your research could help address the challenge as well as the benefits and drawbacks of your approach.
  3. An annotated bibliography of five (5) scholarly, peer-reviewed articles found using the Bucks County Community College library databases.

Finding Sources Using Library Database Communication and Mass Media Complete

The database Communication and Mass Media Complete is provided by EBSCOhost. This tutorial video on advanced searching in EBSCOhost will help you find resources for the more complex topics you identify in your research proposal.

Here are some of the topics you will need to research:

  • an area of intercultural communication studies
    • a theory you found interesting within the area you selected
    • research conducted within the area of intercultural communication studies
  • a "Future  Challenge" in intercultural communication
    • the relationship (benefits and drawbacks) of the theory you chose within an area of intercultural communication and the "Future Challenge"
