COMP111: Ellen Pratofiorito: Essay Research Guide

• An extension of literary analysis
• Analyze/interpret one or more pieces of literature (ex. Frost poetry)
• Include academic/scholarly sources
• Submit a Works Cited page in MLA format for each of the 5-10 academic sources (plus your primary sources) integrated and cited in the essay (see Citations/References tab for proper format)
• Submit a Works Consulted page in MLA format for 10 or more sources researched after the Works Cited page
• Select one of the following:
  • Hemingway's "Cat in the Rain" and/or "Hills Like White Elephants"
  • Dickinson poetry -- up to three poems on a specific theme
  • Frost poetry -- up to three poems on a specific theme
  • Langston Hughes poetry -- up to three poems on a specific theme
  • Chopin's "The Story of an Hour (with, perhaps, another Chopin short story, "The Storm")
  • Gilman's "The Yellow Wall-paper"
