Music Apps

Even if you are not a musician, there are many apps to help you create and enjoy music.

Pandora is like a little radio in your device in which you can specify what kind of music you would like to listen to. If you are a serious art music lover, clicking on "Classical" will bring you pops and orchestrated movie themes along with actual classical music.

Shazam will identify music and movies it hears. If Shazam is running while you are watching a movie, it will identify the movie without you asking it to. This happening to me when I had TCM on and a 1940s movie was playing. Amazing!

Amazon Cloud Player: If you have purchased CDs through Amazon.com, check this thing out. Not everything you have purchased will be there, but you might be pleasantly surprised that you can access the content wherever you are. Gifts you have purchased through Amazon might also be there. You can access this on your computer through the Amazon site, or look for the app on your device.

Songify will take any short bit of text you speak into it and make it into a song. You can choose from various styles. Your voice will come out sounding like it has been Auto-tuned.

There are quite a few piano keyboards designed for use on iPads. Some are free, some give you two keyboards (with one facing your friend), and some cost money but have many more features. For example, Virtuoso Piano is free, and Pianist Pro costs $10.
