Persuasive Speech Content Guidelines

  • This persuasive speech is intended to get your classmates to volunteer for a non-profit organization.
  • You may choose an organization you currently volunteer for, or would like to in the future.  Using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence (MMS), persuade classmates to volunteer for the organization you endorse.
  • You may also want to persuade classmates to join an on-campus club or organization.  For more information, click here for Bucks Clubs and Orgs.
  • This speech must be organized using Monroe’s Motivated Sequence.
  • Support each step (Main idea) of Monroe’s Motivated Sequence with at least two different sources in the supporting points.

Finding your sources

One or more of these databases will have information on the subject that is the basis of your organization's work. This time you're searching for a topic (like single mothers, osteoporosis, or sustainable agriculture), not the name of the organization.  Find high-quality, reliable information from reference books, journal articles, and newspapers.

You are required to verbally cite at least five sources.
