The Paper Run

Daily Duties and more on the Sweep (printable)

What to do if you are late or unable to work:

Call or email Director Monica Kuna at 215-968-8003 or monica.kuna@bucks.edu

The sooner the better; This is mandatory.

Also, if you are giving short notice and your shift is about to start, it would be a good idea to inform those working the desk.  Monica still needs to be informed directly by you.  This is a courtesy to those at the desk relying on you to relieve them.

The Sweep

When you begin your shift in the library, all student workers must do a Sweep on all three levels of the library. This includes:

  • Push in chairs.
  • Collect loose books and place on carts to be reshelved.
  • Collect books left on small carts at the end of shelves and place on the black cart by the service desk to be reshelved, in proper order.
  • Pick up any trash.
  • Collect any lost items left by students.  Less expensive items can go into the "Lost and Found" box.  Items of value (cell phones, calculators, driver's licenses, keys, etc.) need to be turned into Security.  Ask a technician to call Security.  Hold the item at the Service Desk until Security picks it up.
  • Shelve any loose journals/magazines.
  • Shelve journals from the periodicals cart.
  • Empty the book drop.
  • Fill all three printers with paper (two upstairs and one downstairs).
  • Note: Your job is to make the library presentable. If you find books/materials or anything else loose and out of place, your job while doing the sweep is to fix it.
  • Students working at night must begin their sweep by 8:30 pm.
